Welcome to Back Yourself Fitness! I'm Matt, the Owner and Head Trainer at Back Yourself Fitness. I started my first PT studio back in 2014 and wanted to create a space for all sizes, shapes and abilities to come in and train without feeling judged or made to feel uncomfortable. No matter how large the brand has grown, my aim has been he same: I want to help people.
After finishing high school in 2005, I knew I wanted to help people but I didn't know what avenue to go down to achieve that. I did the bar tending and playing in a band but I knew there weren't careers. The constant for me throughout was sport, more specifically: basketball. I started playing basketball when I was 7 all the way through to my mid-20s. Travelling around South East QLD for representative games, training and local club games.
A good friend of mine introduced me to his personal trainer who he saw most days and after becoming a regular there myself, his trainer approached me to become a PT along side him. That was my light bulb moment and from that point in 2012, I have not looked back.
From being a group instructor, to PT, to running my own business and studio and to now having other trainers work from the Back Yourself Fitness facility, my drive and passion as remained the same: I want to help people. I turn up to work every day knowing that I get to help every client that walks in to train with me.
The Back Yourself Fitness facility promotes inclusivity where people of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities can come in, train and feel comfortable in their environment.
The name of the business says it all: I aim to build my clients confidence and ability so the Back Themselves to achieve their goals.
